Video and transcript available of Web Town Hall on UC Benefits
If you missed the live webcast, you can watch an archived tape of the Web Town Hall on UC Benefits or download a transcript of the 90-minute event. The Town Hall was videotaped in Oakland on Sept. 24 with a small in-studio audience that included UC faculty and both represented and non-represented staff. In addition, more than 9,000 people participated via the web.
The Town Hall was moderated by Penelope Herbert, staff advisor-designate to the Regents, and featured panelists Nathan Brostrom, executive vice president of Business Administration, Dwaine Duckett, vice president of Human Resources, Provost Lawrence Pitts and Academic Senate Vice Chair Robert Anderson.
Panelists tried to answer as many questions as they could from both the live and web audience during the 90-minute event. Questions posed online that the panelists didn’t have time to answer — and with the volume of questions there were quite a few — will be answered on the Future of UC Retirement Benefits and posted under the Q&A section.
Thanks to everyone who participated and helped us make this first systemwide Web Town Hall a success.

Currently we are contributing about 2% of our salaries into the retirement plan, which became effective in June of 2010. The new vote states that in June of 2011 we wil be contributing 3.5%. Is the plan to bring out contribution up another 1.5% or another 3.5% in June of 2011.
